In the years prior to lockdown as a result of Civid-19, THE VIP LOUNGE has organised both summer and Christmas breaks at various locations throughout the UK, mainly in hotels, though we have had two summer breaks in Caravans. Our first event was held in Swindon during November of 2013.
In 2017 as THE VIP LOUNGE was founded in Cardiff, our Loungers decided to hold the Christmas breaks at home.
We booked a 4 night stay at The Copthorn Hotel at Culverhouse Cross. If I remember rightly we took about 25 guests.
We booked a trip to The Museum Of Welsh Life, went to The German Christmas Market, which is held each year in the City Centre. We feasted on a fantastic Christmas Lunch and held a disco where more food was available in the form of a finger buffet.
We had such a great experience at The Copthorn, that we revisited both in 2018 and 2019 for our Christmas breaks. The company was great, the staff so accommodating and the rooms wonderfully clean, a lot if fun was had by all.
Since Covid, the hotel has been closed to the public, but when I was told it would reopen this week, as a joke I said, “shall we resume our Christmas tradition this year and go back, we could also celebrate the 10th anniversary of the radio station’s launch at the same time”. Well in less than a week and without advertising, 19 people have already booked their place already.
